Pachnam™ Liquid & Tablets - Mode of Action
  1. Picrorhiza kurroa (Kutki) - Hepato protective and enzyme stimulant
The hepatoprotective action of Picroliv was evident by its ability to lower the Cd-induced liver function parameters – the serum enzymes, such as alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). Bile flow and biliary Cd (cadmium) also increased as a result of Picroliv's choleretic property.

  2. Plumbago zeylanica (Chitrak) - Appetite stimulant and digestive
Chitrak is a potent appetite stimulant and digestive herb well mentioned in ancient ayurvedic texts. The root bark of P.zeylanica contains plumbagin, free glucose and fructose and enzymes protease and invertase.

  3. Zingiber officinale (Soonth) - Anti-inflammatory and Potent Digestive
The study results showed a valuable effect of ginger extract against acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis possibly by its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
    (J Ethnopharmacol. 2008 Aug 13; 118(3):367-72.)

  4. Aloe vera (Kumari) - Regulates digestion
The study revealed that hepatic cholesterol significantly increased in the control group during aging in contrast to the aloe-supplemented groups, which showed approximately 30% lower cholesterol levels, thereby an effective hypocholesteremic efficacy and hepatoprotective activity.
    (J Nutr Sci Vitaminol (Tokyo).2003 Aug; 49(4):292-6)

  5. Punica granatum (Dadim) - Stimulates secretion of digestive enzymes
Concentrations of malondialdehyde, hydroperoxides and conjugated dienes were significantly decreased in liver while the activities of the enzymes catalase, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase showed significant elevation.
