Fracture :-
A break in the bone
Symptoms of fracture :-
- Swelling around the injured area
- Loss of function in the injured area
- Bruising around the injured area
- Deformity of a limb
Factors causing fracture
- Fall from a height
- Accidents
- Direct blow
- Repetitive forces such as those caused by running, can cause stress fractures of the foot, ankle, tibia, or hip
Types of fractures :-
- Simple:- Bone breaks into two pieces
- Stress:- Hairline break that is often invisible on the x-ray for the first six weeks after the onset of pain
- Comminuted:- Bone fragments into several pieces
- Impacted:- One fragment of bone is embedded into another fragment of bone
- Compound:- Bone protrudes through the skin. Also called an open fracture
- Complete:- Bone snaps completely into two or more pieces
- Incomplete:- Bone cracks but doesn't separate

Dietary changes :-
- Dietary sources of calcium like milk and milk products, cabbage, broccoli, sesame seeds should be included in diet.
- Avoid tea, coffee and aerated drinks
- Avoid processed and preserved food.
Lifestyle changes :-
- Rest
- Avoid stress
- Do not over work
- Continue physiotherapy
- Sleep well

Osteoporosis : -
Osteoporosis is a condition of bones where bones become brittle and fragile and lead to fracture on smallest of injury. Osteoporosis develops due to low bone mass and loss of bone tissue that may lead to weak and fragile bones.
Causes :-
- Old age
- Lack of hormones (estrogen in females and androgen in males)
- Lack of nutritious diet
- Low intake of calcium & Vit. D
- Genetic disorders
- Prolonged use of corticosteroids
- Medication like antacids
- Cigarrette smoking
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Diabetes and hypothyroid
- Post menopause or surgical removal of ovaries.
Symptoms :-

- Dull pain in bones and muscles
- Low back pain
- Neck pain
- Fractures of hips, wrist and spine with a slight fall.
